Welcome Aboard to our Newest Staff Members

Heather Phillips, 1st Grade Teacher

Hi! My name is Heather Phillips and I am thrilled to be joining the Huntley Hills family this year as a first grade teacher! I am originally from a small town in south Georgia, but lived in Athens the past five years. I have known that I wanted to teach for as long as I can remember, and it is easily my greatest passion (followed closely by the beach, ice cream, and Georgia Bulldogs!). I graduated from the University of Georgia with both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Early Childhood Education last year. During graduate school I obtained my Reading Endorsement and am currently pursing my Gifted Endorsement, as well. In college I was able to work with some of the most incredible educators, but I am beyond thrilled to finally have a classroom of my own! I have looked forward to this year for a long time, and I cannot wait to meet and be a part of the Huntley Hills community!

Erin Worrell, 1st Grade Teacher

Hi! My name is Erin Worrell. I was born and raised in the Atlanta area and graduated from Dunwoody High School. I attended Auburn University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. For the past 10 years I have been teaching in the Cobb County School District. While there, I began implementing the Leader in Me program, became certified as a special education teacher, and was the English partner teacher in the Dual Language Immersion program. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our beautiful twins. I am beyond excited to be joining the Huntley Hills family!

Delaney Bush, 1st and 2nd Montessori Teacher

I am Delaney Bush, from the beautiful Bluegrass state – Go Cats! I came to Georgia to attend Oglethorpe University where I graduated with honors in business and education. After a short time working in human resources, I returned to my true passion – working with children – and became a nanny.  I am thrilled to be starting my teaching career at Huntley Hills as a Montessori teacher. I was fortunate to attend a Montessori School and give it credit for my curiosity, persistence, and love of learning.  I am so excited to provide that same experience for others. In my spare time, I enjoy following the Kentucky Wildcats and the Pittsburg Steelers. I also engage in a wide range of art projects and love to play with my cat, Eclipse. I am excited to become part of the school community!

Ms. Dallas Bolden, 3rd Grade Teacher

Hi, I am Miss Bolden! I am originally from Los Angeles, California. I moved to Atlanta to attend Oglethorpe University and have my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Educational Studies. My teaching experiences vary from being a private family tutor to being an assistant teacher at the Marist School. For the past few years, I have immersed myself in learning and ready to start my teaching career at Huntley Hills. As a first- year teacher, my goal is to help create an environment where the students feel welcome to express their creativity and making learning fun! I am so excited to be joining the HH Staff!

Ms. Jordanna Denson, 3rd Grade Teacher

Hi, my name is Jordanna Denson! I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee. I moved to Georgia for college at the University of Georgia (go dawgs!) and have been here ever since. I graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Spanish. In my free time I enjoy reading and spending time with my husband. This will be my fifth year teaching, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Huntley Hills family!

PBIS Positive Behavior Intervention System

________________________________________

Our school is now participating in the PBIS program. The term PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Supports.  PBIS is a research based program that recognizes students for positive behaviors in school.  In addition to recognizing students for positive behavior in the classroom, our program will also extend itself to the cafeteria, restroom, bus, playground, and hallways.

PBIS is a school-wide initiative.  All students, faculty, and staff will now have uniform expectations for behavior. The great thing about PBIS is that all school staff can recognize a student or classroom for positive behavior. When recognized, a student and/or class will receive a Tiger buck.  The Tiger buck can be redeemed for various incentives and in the Tiger Store on the last Friday of each month.

In addition to the start of the PBIS program, we have also developed an acronym for the term P.A.W.S.   Moving forward, we will use the following behavior expectations school-wide. Students will be expected to do their Personal best, Act Responsibly, Work and play safe, and Show kindness. We have included a copy of the P.A.W.S behavior matrix which you can see by clicking here. Although the teachers have reviewed the matrix with students, you can assist the school by reviewing the matrix at home with your child(ren).

As always, thank you for your support.  We are really excited about PBIS and the benefits for our students and school.  If you have any questions about PBIS program, please call the school at 678-676-7402.
