 The 2019-2020 Georgia Book Award Nominees 

Whether you want to be on the Huntley Hills Reading Bowl team or find a great book for summer reading, the Georgia Book Award list is for you! These books are also used for the DeKalb County School District's Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. You will find the ES, MS, and HS lists along with summaries about each book. 

 

  

GUYS READ! A Reading Program for guys by Jon Scieszka  

GUYS READ is a set of books and also a reading club that makes monthly book recommendations for guys! The GUYS READ books are very engaging collections of short stories based on a theme. Learn about the history and mission of "Guys Read". The GUYS READ anthologies are recommended for grades 4 and up. http://www.guysread.com

 

 DeKalb County Public Library Summer Reading Program

“A Universe of Stories” is this year’s theme for DeKalb Public Library’s summer reading program. It is available for kids from birth to 17 year olds. Sign up at any DeKalb branch to receive a reading log, bookmark and sticker to get started. Registration opens May 29th.  Earn raffle tickets for hours read/and or literacy activities completed. https://dekalblibrary.org/kids/srp
*** Children and teens who participate in the Summer Reading Program can earn raffle tickets for a variety of prizes, including but not limited to books, gift cards, Amazon Kindle Fires and free tickets to cultural, educational, and amusement venues around the metro Atlanta area 
 
Barnes & Noble Summer Reading
 
Students read eight books and write their favorite part, telling why. They bring the completed journal to a Barnes & Noble between August 1st and August 31st, 2019 to receive a free book from the list
 
Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge 
Scholastic has a summer reading challenge where kids read and then go online to record the minutes they’ve read this summer. They’ll also be able to take weekly challenges to earn digital rewards. 
 
Books a Million Summer Reading Program
The Books a Million summer reading program has specific reading lists to choose from. Read any four books from the Summer Reading Challenge lists that are broken up by age, and receive a prize. You must present your completed series in the store in order to receive a pencil case with pencils.
 
Chuck E. Cheese
To incentivize your kids to read, print out a Chuck E. Cheese reading reward calendar. Mark off each day, for 2 weeks, that your child reads and they can earn 10 free play points.
